Use Filter Actions over Quick Filters in Tableau .
Tableau’s Filter Actions are a must have and a must use on every dashboard you create. The Filter actions help with performance by reducing quick filters and also by making your dashboard fell like a dashboard. If you don’t have interactivity it loses the value of putting your data in a dashboard and to me just makes it less exciting. You want to entice your end user to play and drill down into your data visually and actions can help you achieve that.
Think about all the filters you think could be relevant and if any of those dimensions are already in a chart on the dashboard then use that chart as a filter instead of a quick filter. For me, this is a rule of thumb, actions before quick filter. Improve the performance of your dashboard and increase interactivity by using Tableau’s Filter Actions.
